Well the past few weeks have been pretty good. Not this week that we just finished but the week before that, half of my classes were cancelled. It was great. They practically shut down the entire chemE department because of the AIChE conference that was going on. My first and last classes were cancelled on Monday and Wednesday, so I got to sleep in and go home early. Plus, I hate, I mean really really hate, my thermodynamics class - that's the one in the morning that was cancelled.
Anyway, I got caught up on my sleep, and I really needed it too. That Friday I went to a party that my chicago friend from school told me about. He'd been bugging me to come since I ditched out on his Halloween party, so my friend and I went. I ended up having a great time. It got busted up pretty early, but I didn't mind. I had fun while I was there. It was the first time that I actually felt comfortable at a party like that. Usually when I go to these things, and I just feel like a complete outcast. I feel self-consious from the minute I walk in - like everyone is staring at me and whispering to their friends, "who let her in?" I know, it's silly to actually think that everybody's looking at me, because I know they're not. I'm sure I blend in just as well as the next person, but sometimes I think I have some kind of social complex. Anyway, enough of that. I did have a fun time at this particular party. I actually talked to a few people that I didn't know, quite a few really. There were a couple of girls that were friends with my chicago friend that got me to the party, and they seemed really nice. Then there were a few random guys that started talking to my friend and I.... they were trashed from the get-go. It was just hysterical listening to them rambling on. This one guy was really tall and he was carrying on about how he was "branching out" that night. He was "going out on a limb and leaving his group of friends and coming to meet new friends, because you know what? That's what you do at parties." lol. It was a good time.
Now this week was a short week because of Thanksgiving which is just wonderful anyway you slice it. Plus, one of my classes was cancelled for Monday and Wednesday - it was right in the middle of the day, so I had some extra time to do homework between classes. I had a lot of work to get done on Monday and Tuesday, but I think everything went alright. I found this coffee shop right off of Mill Ave that serves Illy espresso. I was so psyched. I hope I didn't scare the girl that was working there because I really did freak out when I realized that they had it. I got my americano and a lemon poppyseed muffin and I sat down to do my homework and I was happy as a clam. and and and... sorry about that - run-ons are my specialty, apparently.
We had our holiday work party on Wednesday evening, so I got to get all dressed up for that. The theme was 80s, and I got way carried away. It was fun. My honey came with me to the party too, so that was lots of fun.
Thursday, yesterday I guess, of course was Thanksgiving. Yum. My parents (who still haven't called me today... I'm very hurt) went to Cali to visit my brother, so I went to my boyfriend's house for Thanksgiving. I was a little nervous about meeting the rest of his family, but it went really well I think. Good food too.
Well that's about all the energy I have for today. I'll write more later.
